Letter follows at first opportunity.

I have received letter from you lately.

  1. Did he write this out, or is it a check-off card? “I am well/sick/wounded,” and so on?

  3. So he was “well,” but not “quite well” — I wonder what the difference was. These cards and letters are just fascinating.
